Nutrition in Aging

As populations age, addressing the nutritional needs of older adults becomes increasingly important. This track will explore the unique dietary challenges faced by the elderly, such as changes in metabolism, medication interactions, and the risk of malnutrition. Experts will discuss strategies for enhancing nutritional intake among older adults, including the importance of nutrient-dense foods and adequate hydration. Sessions will also cover the role of functional foods—those that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition—in promoting wellness and preventing chronic diseases in older populations. Participants will learn how to assess and identify malnutrition risk factors in elderly patients and implement effective interventions. Workshops will focus on practical meal planning, incorporating culturally relevant foods, and creating supportive environments that encourage healthy eating among older adults. By the conclusion of this session, attendees will possess the skills and knowledge to improve the nutritional health of aging individuals
